This Daxmas is the Lastmas

Dear Friends and Family,

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Funk Harmony Park’s #Daxmas Holiday celebration. A decade is a long time, but as they say, time flies when you are having fun, and nothing is more fun for us than celebrating and spreading the #Daxmas Holiday with our friends and family. http://www.daxmas.com

From our humble beginnings with John Proteau in the basement of The Vine, together we have grown this event into something that has made a real difference in people’s lives, and for that, we are grateful. Over the course of these 10 years, we have raised over $50k for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Joseph County Indiana. It has been an amazing adventure for all of us as we took the show from The Vine, to The Midway Tavern & Dancehall, to Club Fever, to The Brick and now to our favorite Bonesy Award winning music venue – Vegetable Buddies. A big thanks to all who have hosted us throughout the years.

Under the fearless leadership of George “Bonesy” Bonin, we have lived the cowboy code, explored the far reaches of the universe, brought a taste of the tropics to South Bend in December and lived the champaign life that most only dream about. It has been a hell of a journey, but as all journeys must, we have reached our destination.

Please join us on Sunday, December 23rd at Vegetable Buddies in South Bend, IN to help us celebrate the FINAL #Daxmas celebration. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here

or at the door and all proceeds will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Joseph County Indiana. Doors open at 5:00 pm. We will also be presenting the George Bonin Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence to this year’s recipient.

We hope that we can see all of you there, so please try and come out, because this #Daxmas is the Lastmas.

Sincerely,

George Bonin, Nick Kovach, T.j. Kanczuzewski, Connor O’Sullivan and Mark Criniti

2014 #DAXMAS Wrap-up

Funk Harmony Park and the Daxman

Funk Harmony Park and the Daxman before the show.

Our annual holiday concert was a complete success! We had over 400 attendees raising over $9000 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of St. Joseph County – which provides volunteer mentors to children.

We celebrated in true #DAXMAS spirit – donning turtlenecks and blazers, practicing fiscal responsibility and enjoying Crème brûlée during the setbreak. Moveable Types opened the show. Then the Daxman himself graced the concertgoers with his presence and spoke of fiscal responsibility and other Daxmas traditions before introducing Funk Harmony Park to the audience.

We started the first set with many of our greatest hits followed by two songs lead by Elliott Peck on acoustic guitar and vocals. At the end of the first set we tabulated the votes for The Bonsey Award and presented South Bend Mayor Peter Buttigieg the award for his work with the South Bend community. Pete then sat in with us on guitar for jammin rendition of Deep Elem Blues.
